MMDT #16
Picked By: Alesther
Cafe Bink
Somewhere up in adorable Carefree on adorable Tom Darlington Road
Likes Award Winning French Fries : Josh, Christy, Ross, Lauren, Vince, Holly, Dave, Bailey, Alesther and newcomers Mike and Tami!!!!
Prefer Freedom Fries: Janet, Kyle, Sophie, Bailey (she puts the Bail in Bailey!)
Oh man! So much to report! Fries with 3 sauces! Giant shake straws!
First of all. This is not close. I'm no MapQuest but I'm guessing Vince & Holly drove something like 9 light years to get to Cafe Bink. Luckily the Maxima has hyperdrive... standard!
Service from Bill was a little show but everyone got their orders right (this got a little crazy... Vince wants French Dip before salad.... eh?) and no grief on split-up checks. Always a plus in a group this big.
Anxious to hear everyone's reports but two things that I'll gladly be burping up for days to come: prosciutto wrapped shrimp (awesome!) and rich mac & cheese.
Speaking of rich... the bride & I spent nearly $100 on tax & tip for the two of us. But we were in a splurgely mood. I'm sure you could get out cheaper if you were so inclined.
Some lively conversation --- everything from reasons to be thankful to the world's greatest Internet blog to misheard song lyrics.
This was a great one. Please post reviews & pics... ASAP!

#15 - Joey's California Bistro - 8/12/09
MMDT #15
Picked By: Bailey Pell
Joey's California Bistro
610 E. Bell Road
Phoenix, AZ 85022
Ciao Bella : Josh, Christy, Ross, Lauren, Janet, Kyle, Sophie, Dave, Bailey, Alesther and special guest Jared/Jarrod/Gerridd (damn me for not knowing the proper spelling)
Arrivaderci: Vince, Holly
A night of pasta, pizza and a LOOOOOT OF LIMONCELLO. I'll say this about the Italians... they know their lemony liquor! Just kidding, Natale... we know you're Sicilian. Please don't have us killed.
(I joke. Natale was a fantastic waiter. I put him among the best we've ever had on the tour. If you go to this restaurant, ask for Natale. He will take care of you.)
This place was perfect... quiet, great tasting food, great presentation (though strangely dark in there)
One of my favorite nights of the MMDT so far... thanks all. Let's get some reviews!

#13 - True Food Kitchen - 4/15/09
MMDT #13 Picked By: Sophie O-Z
True Food Kitchen
2502 E. Camelback Road
Phoenix, AZ 85016
Totally Organic: Josh, Christy, Kyle, Janet, Ross, Lauren, Vince, Holly, Sophie, Dave, Bailey
Haters-of-the-Environment: Ian K.
Talk about your tax day stimulus --- a record-breaking size group made for a record-breaking size bill. This place is all about health and the environment. Even the men's urinal boasts how much water it's saving. Pretentiously delicious!
Cool vibe, fancy refreshers/beverages, pizzas, salmon, tacos, miso, lots of vegeterian dishes and gluten-free options. And solid service by Steven.
Afterwards, some delicious fro-yo at neighboring Mojo. Good treats but what's up with selling stuff by the ounce? (Unless you're a drug dealer. Maybe those were 'magic brownies' among the toppings.)
Total bill with tip for 11 people: $294 - $26/person
Next to pick -- Mr. Klee on June 17th. If "The Tour" gets much bigger we're going to need a tour bus for the band. (side-note: Does that mean we get groupies? Awe-some!)
Let's hear some reviews, Tourer-ists!

Christy and her "pina colada" - Josh and his "Green Arnie"

Holly and a concoction

Vince + Miso Soup = Unbridled Joy

Bailey's - Shaved turkey, provolone, tomato, cucumbers, grapes & yogurt dressing on warm pita (with sweet potato hash)

Josh's pizza - wild shrimp, caramelized onion, roasted peppers & goat cheese

Sophie's something-or-other

Lauren & Vince - curry chicken with rice noodles

Dave - Ahi sliders

Christy - steak tacos & anasazi beans

Vince demonstrating the Dyson Airblade. Yes, it's better than yours.
